Troubleshooting FAQ

Quick answers to common questions. If you still need help, call us or book online.

Check these in order (fastest first):

Look for a button that says Start TeleVisit, Join, or Begin Visit.
If you still can’t find it, call (678) 741-7185 and we’ll help you join.

Search your email/text for “TeleVisit,” “healow,” “eClinicalWorks,” or your appointment reminder.

Check your spam/junk folder (email reminders sometimes land there).

Log into your healow app or Patient Portal → go to Appointments → open today’s appointment.

Refresh/rejoin the visit (close the tab/app and reopen your appointment → Start TeleVisit).

When prompted, click Allow for camera and microphone.

If on a computer browser:

  • Click the lock icon near the website address bar → permissions → set Camera = Allow, Microphone = Allow → refresh.

If on iPhone/Android:

  • Settings → find the app/browser → enable Camera and Microphone permissions.

If there’s a device check screen, make sure the correct camera/mic is selected.
If it still doesn’t work, call (678) 741-7185 and we’ll walk you through it.

This is almost always internet strength. Try:

If it still freezes, disconnect and rejoin from the same appointment link.
If you can’t get stable video, you can still often complete the visit with audio only—call us and we’ll advise the best option.

Switch to Wi-Fi (or move closer to your router).

Close other apps/tabs that might be using video (FaceTime, Zoom, YouTube).

Turn off VPN (if you have one running).

If you’re on your phone, try switching from cellular → Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi → cellular (whichever is stronger).

Stay on the waiting screen and keep your device awake (don’t let it lock).

Keep your volume on, and stay in the app/tab.

If you’ve been waiting 10+ minutes past your scheduled time, refresh once:

Close the visit → reopen appointment → click Start TeleVisit again.
If you’re still waiting, call (678) 741-7185 so we can confirm timing or help you reconnect.

Go back to your email/text link OR open the healow app / Patient Portal.

Open Appointments → select today’s TeleVisit.

Click Start TeleVisit again.

If prompted, re-allow camera/mic.
If you’re repeatedly disconnecting, switch to Wi-Fi and close other apps. If you still can’t stay connected, call (678) 741-7185.

If you’ve tried:

  • finding the link (email/text/portal),
  • allowing camera/mic permissions,
  • and rejoining once,

…then call (678) 741-7185. Tell us:

  1. you’re trying to join a TeleVisit,
  2. whether you’re on phone or computer,
  3. if you’re using healow app, portal, or email/text link,
  4. what the screen currently says.

We’ll get you connected or advise the best next step.

Telehealth FAQ

Quick answers to common questions. If you still need help, call us or book online.

Telehealth is great for follow-ups, medication check-ins, reviewing results, and many non-urgent concerns where an in-person exam isn’t required. If you need hands-on evaluation, labs, imaging, or a procedure, we may recommend an in-person visit. If you’re unsure which is best, call us and we’ll guide you to the right appointment type.

Not always. Many patients can join from the email/text link without downloading an app. You can also join through the Patient Portal in a browser or through the healow app (recommended on a phone). If you’re not sure which method you’re using, call us and we’ll help.

Yes. A smartphone is often the easiest option—just use the healow app or your TeleVisit link. Make sure your phone is charged, your connection is strong (Wi-Fi recommended), and you’re in a quiet, private space with good lighting.

If you’re running late, try to join as soon as possible using the same TeleVisit method (link/portal/app). If you think you’ll be more than a few minutes late, call (678) 741-7185 so we can advise the best next step.

Telehealth visits are conducted through our secure system. We also recommend you protect your privacy by joining from a quiet space, using your own device, and avoiding public Wi-Fi when possible. If you have privacy concerns, call us and we’ll help you choose the best visit option.

No. For safety, you must be seated and not driving during your telehealth visit. If you’re in a vehicle, you must be parked before joining. Please do not operate machinery during your visit.

Please join 10–15 minutes early. You may see a few quick steps before the visit starts (questions, consent, device check). After that, you’ll be in the virtual waiting room until your provider joins.

To make the visit smooth, please have:

A stable connection (Wi-Fi recommended)
If you’re discussing a specific issue, it helps to write down your symptoms and questions in advance.

A quiet, private location with good lighting

Your medication list (or bottles nearby)

Any recent vitals if you have them (optional)

If your provider determines you need labs, testing, or a hands-on exam, we’ll guide you on next steps and help schedule an in-person visit if appropriate. Telehealth is often a great starting point, and we’ll make sure you get the right type of care.
